UXAFORES members will participate in two of the projects approved by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) in the call for the promotion of the forestry bioeconomy 2023. The projects will be conducted in 2024-2025 within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) funded by the European Union-NextGenerationEU.
The editorial Springer Cham has published two new books on current cutting edge research topics, in the first trimester of 2024, both with Professor Avelino Núñez as the coordinator.
Three PhD theses co-supervised by UXAFORES members have been defended in the EPSE in recent months. Two are related to forestry, with one reporting an in-depth study of forest fires in pine plantations and the other concerning short-rotation poplar plantations. The third, conducted within an international doctoral programme, investigates the fertilization of cacao in Panamanian agriculture.
In recent months, two PhD theses concerning the toxic effects of several currently widespread pollutants in soils have been defended. These theses were written by doctoral associated with the research group.
